against Dimitrov but had to save
Simona Halep will take over at the top of the womens rankings after reaching the final of the China Open, whilst Rafael Nadal bids for his sixth title of the year in the mens event.

Halep beat Jelena Ostapenko in their semi-final 6-2, 6-4, ensuring http://www.pittsburghpenguinsofficialonline.com/Adidas-Joe-Mullen-Jersey the Romanian will become the first female No1 from the eastern European country when the updated rankings are released MondayIn order to top the womens game Halep had to reach the final in Beijing this week, and not lose to Elina Svitolina if she got there, to take over from Garbine Muguruza. Muguruza retired during her opening match on Monday with a cold and Svitolina was ousted by unseeded Caroline Garcia in a marathon quarter-final encounter.
Of course its the best moment in my life, and I want just to keep it, Halep said. And I have few more dreams in my career. I tell you one, only one. To win a Grand Slam.
Ostapenko entered their semi-final having not lost a set in Beijing, but Halep dominated from the start, breaking her opponents serve in the first game to love. Halep tightened her grip with another break in the seventh game for a 5-2 lead and served out the first set.
In the second, Halep surrendered a 3-2 lead with a service break in the sixth game, but went on to break back three games later. At 40-0 in the final game, Halep took victory, and with it the No1 spot, hitting a forehand winner down the line.
Halep could have reached the No1 earlier this year but was upset in the French Open final by Ostapenko in their first career meeting.
In the mens draw Nadal defeated Grigor Dimitrov 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 in their semi-final. The French and US Open champion is one of three men to win five titles this year, along with Roger Federer and Alexander Zverev.
Nadal held his serve to love in his first three games against Dimitrov but had to save two break points in the seventh game before taking the first set. In the second, a backhand cross-court winner from Dimitrov broke Nadal and ultimately proved enough to level the match. Nadal took immediate control of the third set, racing to a 4-0 lead and only dropped one more game to take victory.
Nadal, the 2005 China Open champion, who has a tour-leading 60 Johnny Bench Youth jersey match wins in 2017, will play Nick Kyrgios in Sundays final after the Australian beat Zverev 6-3, 7-5.
Halep, looking for her second title of the year after winning in Madrid, will play Garcia in womens final after the Frenchwoman beat Petra Kvitova 6-3, 7-5Caroline Wozniacki claimed the biggest title of her career after staving off a ferocious Venus Williams fightback to win the WTA Finals title 6-4, 6-4 at a captivated Singapore Indoor Stadium on Sunday.
The former world No1 entered the contest having lost against Williams seven times in seven matches but the resilient Dane served and retrieved brilliantly and emerged with a deserved victory after 89 minutes. Wozniacki was faultless for an hour as she raced to a one-set and 5-0 lead but Williams reeled off four games in a row before the player from Denmark could finally lift the title at the eight-woman event in her fifth appearanceIt was all going well at 5-0 in the second set, then she went for her shots and I was just so happy to get it done in the end, said Wozniacki, who will rise three places to third in the world rankings after the win, said in a courtside interview. Well, eight is my lucky number and I figured if I http://www.officialbaseballgiants.com/Bruce_Bochy_Jersey was ever going to beat her it would be today ... and I just went out there and did my best.
The first three games were dominated by the server until the 27-year-old Wozniacki started to find the corners with her powerful backhand and fashioned the first break of the match with back-to-back winners off both flanks.
Williams was trying to get to the net at every opportunity and came forward to good effect after dropping her serve. A vicious cross-court backhand enabled the American to break back immediately on her way to levelling the score at 3-3.
She continued to be the aggressor but Wozniacki held on in the face of some brutal hitting and somehow forged her second break of the set with some exquisite deep hitting to move within a game of taking the Johnny Bench Youth jersey opener.
Williams came roaring back once more, leaving Wozniacki looking on as a helpless spectator, with a barrage of winners to get the high-class contest back on serve.
After working so hard to stay in touch, Williams would have been deeply frustrated to hand her opponent the set when Wozniacki did not have to work to seize the third break in a row, the wayward American sending forehands wide, long and into the net.
Wozniacki had seized the momentum with her variation, depth of shot and complete lack of errors preventing Williams from grabbing any sort of foothold in the contest and then flying into a 5-0 lead in 11 second-set minutes.
Needing to hold to stay in the contest, Williams belatedly found her rhythm to get on the scoreboard in the second set and then broke with some solid play against an increasingly anxious Wozniacki. Williams suddenly appeared relaxed and free, holding easily to heap more pressure on the Dane before breaking again to get it back to 5-4.
The crowd wanted more but Wozniacki was not ready to oblige, breaking again and sealing victory on her second match point with a backhand winner down the line, and tossing her racket in the air as she celebrated a stunning triumph.
Wozniackis victory is her second of the season in eight finals after she successfully defended her Pan Pacific Open title in Tokyo last month
